Manage your account, subscription and settings
Find your profile and settings, manage sign-in and subscription access, and understand what account changes do in Fireball.
You can manage most account choices from two places:
- Profile is for your personal details, sign-in methods, subscription, and account security.
- Settings is for how Fireball behaves on your device, notifications, privacy choices, and data tools.
Open Fireball’s menu and choose Profile or Settings. If you are not sure which one you need, start with Profile for anything about your account or billing.
Update your profile
In Profile, you can:
- change your display name;
- upload, change, or remove your profile photo; and
- add or update your birth date.
Your birth date helps Fireball show your age and can support planning features that use your age. Enter it carefully, then check the value shown in Profile.
Profile also contains Account & Security, where you can open your subscription, sign-in methods, and two-factor authentication. Danger Zone contains the separate Delete account action.
Manage sign-in and security
Sign-in methods
In Profile, open Sign-in methods to see whether your account has:
- Email/password
- Apple
You can add a password login when your account has an email address, or change an existing password. Fireball signs you out on all devices after a password is added or changed, so make sure you know how you will sign in again before you continue.
If you cannot load the sign-in methods, choose Try again once. If the problem continues, contact support rather than repeatedly changing login methods.
Two-factor authentication
Open Two-factor authentication in Profile to manage an authenticator app that generates one-time codes. This adds another check when Fireball asks you to verify your identity. Keep your recovery information somewhere safe. Do not send an authentication code or secret key to support or anyone else.
Device security
In Settings, Device Security includes:
- App lock, which protects the app on your device
- the App lock timeout
- Shake to conceal, which can hide sensitive information while you use the app
These protect the device session. They do not change your Fireball account, bank connection, or subscription.
To leave the current device, open Profile and choose Sign out. Signing out does not delete your account or cancel your subscription.
Understand your subscription
Open Profile > Subscription, or choose Subscription from the app menu. The page shows your current plan and status, such as Active, Trial, Grace period, Payment retry, Cancelled, or Expired. It may also show your trial end, next billing date, access-until date, and whether auto-renew is off.
The place to change or cancel billing depends on who bills you:
- Apple manages subscriptions bought through the App Store. Choose Manage in the App Store. If Fireball shows Fix Apple payment, update your payment method in Apple settings.
- Google manages subscriptions bought through Google Play. Choose Manage in Google Play.
- Stripe or web billing uses a secure account link. Choose Email account link and follow the link sent to your inbox. Plan changes are not completed directly inside the app.
If you want to stop a renewal
First check the provider shown on your Subscription page. If it says Apple, cancel in App Store subscriptions. If it says Google, cancel in Google Play. If it is a web subscription, request the secure account link. Deleting the Fireball app or signing out does not stop renewal.
If your payment is being retried
If the status says Payment retry, use the provider’s billing action shown on the page. For Apple, update the Apple payment method. For Google or web billing, open the relevant management option. If your provider shows a successful payment but Fireball still shows Payment retry, contact support with the exact status and payment date. Do not purchase a second subscription to try to repair the first one.
If Fireball shows No subscription, you can choose View plans if you want to start access. If you already paid, check that you are signed in to the same Fireball account used for the purchase, then contact support if the access is still missing.
Choose useful Settings
You do not need to change every setting. Start with the ones that solve a specific need.
Appearance
Appearance includes your theme, haptic feedback, reporting currency, and the Home Screen widget. Reporting currency changes how Fireball presents converted amounts; it does not change the original bank transaction.
The Home Screen widget can show Total Net Worth when the feature is available. Use its setup screen if you want to preview or add it.
Notifications and communications
Push notifications can cover income, expense, and projected-balance alerts. Fireball needs a connected bank provider for transaction and cash-flow alerts. Marketing emails are a separate communication choice.
If push notifications are unavailable, connect your bank first or check your device’s notification permission. If the setting is enabled but alerts still do not arrive, contact support rather than changing your transaction data.
AI settings
The AI section controls Fireball’s AI features, including AI chat, personality, and AI categorisation where available. Review the explanation in the setting before enabling data sharing. Turning an AI feature off does not delete your transactions or categories.
Data Management
Data Management contains tools that can change saved data, so read the confirmation message before choosing a destructive action. It can include:
- Import transactions for a bank CSV, PocketSmith, or another file
- Manage Akahu data for bank disconnection or Akahu transaction-history actions
- Find duplicate transactions and Recent transaction changes
- Clear CSV/manual transactions
- Debt progress baseline
- Clear net worth history
These actions are not interchangeable:
- Clearing CSV/manual transactions removes those imported or hand-entered transactions, along with their notes and attachments. It keeps manual accounts, assets, properties, and Akahu transactions.
- Resetting the debt progress baseline changes where debt progress starts. It does not change accounts or transactions.
- Clearing net worth history removes the saved net worth history and frozen account balances. The chart will be empty until Fireball records new data.
If you are trying to fix missing or stale bank data, use the bank-data help article and contact support when it tells you to. Do not clear history or disconnect a bank just to force a refresh.
About, privacy, and legal information
The About section shows your app version, How we use your data, and Legal information including privacy, terms, and disclaimers. Include your app version when support asks for it.
Delete your account safely
Account deletion is permanent. It deletes your Fireball account and associated data, revokes Akahu bank access before the data is erased, and cannot be undone.
To begin:
- Open Profile.
- Scroll to Danger Zone.
- Choose Delete account.
- Complete the identity check and read the confirmation carefully.
Deleting your Fireball account does not automatically cancel Apple, Google, or Stripe billing. If Fireball finds billing that may continue, it shows the provider and a management action. Cancel the subscription with that provider first when possible. If you choose to delete anyway, understand that billing may continue and the subscription may not be recoverable on another Fireball account.
If you used Sign in with Apple and Fireball says Apple still lists the app after deletion, remove Fireball from your Apple Account’s Sign in with Apple settings.
If you only want to stop using Fireball for a while, sign out instead. Do not delete the account unless you are sure you want the permanent result.
If something does not work
- If a setting is unavailable in Demo Mode, exit Demo Mode before changing your live account. Demo Mode does not change your real sign-in methods, security, or account.
- If your subscription status does not match the provider, note the provider, status, and date shown, then contact support. Do not create a second account or buy another plan first.
- If password or two-factor authentication changes leave you signed out, sign in again using the method shown in Sign-in methods.
- If an account or data-management action fails, keep the exact message and screen name for support.
Open Fireball’s menu, choose Support, then Contact support. Never send a bank password, one-time code, authenticator secret, full account number, or raw bank login details.
