My bank data is missing or out of date
Check filters, pending visibility, connection status, and refresh results when bank transactions do not appear in Fireball’s Activity view as expected.
Use the relevant checks below if an account, balance, or transaction does not look right. Then check the bank connection and refresh once. If Fireball still does not show the data you expect, contact support rather than repeatedly reconnecting or deleting saved data.
If an account is missing
Open Fireball's menu and choose Bank Connections. Confirm that the bank and the expected account appear there.
If Fireball shows Account needs attention or Accounts need attention, follow Reconnect or review. If no message explains the missing account, or the account is still absent afterwards, contact support. Include the bank and the type of account that is missing, but not the full account number.
If a balance looks wrong
Open Accounts and select the affected account. Check:
- Current Balance, or Outstanding Balance for a liability.
- Available or Available credit, if your bank supplies it for that account.
- Last updated.
Current and available balances are different values, so compare the same balance in Fireball and your banking app. Fireball may not show an available balance for every account type.
Do not use the visible transactions in Activity to reconstruct the bank balance. The Activity view can cover only a selected date range, and pending transactions can be hidden. Fireball receives the account balance separately from the transaction list.
If a transaction is missing
Open Activity and choose All. Then:
- Clear the transaction search.
- Choose All categories.
- Open Filter & Sort and check the selected accounts, direction, tags, and date range.
The Activity list opens with a recent 90-day date range. If the missing transaction is older, change the date range so it includes the transaction's date.
If the transaction may still be pending, open Settings and check Hide pending transactions. When that setting is on, unsettled transactions are hidden from the transaction list.
After an initial bank connection, Fireball fetches the most recent three months of transactions first. It then fills in up to the previous 12 months in the background, so older transactions may appear after recent ones.
Check the connection status
Open Fireball's menu and choose Bank Connections.
Follow Reconnect with Akahu or Reconnect or review if Fireball shows either action. A connection warning may identify a bank that stopped sharing data, an account marked inactive by the bank, or a balance that has not refreshed for more than seven days.
For an Australian bank connection, follow Refresh bank if Fireball shows that action. If Fireball says the bank still needs attention or cannot be refreshed, contact support.
If Fireball says live bank updates are paused because your subscription is inactive, restore or choose a subscription before expecting new bank data. If the message remains after restoring access, contact support.
If the reconnect process itself does not open or complete, see I can't connect or reconnect my bank.
Refresh once
When live bank refresh is available, pull down on Accounts or Activity. This asks Fireball to check for newer balances and transactions.
For an Akahu connection, Akahu keeps a recent copy of your bank data and usually updates it every few hours. Pulling down requests the latest data available from Akahu; it cannot make a bank provide newer data.
Use the refresh result as follows:
- Already up to date ✓ or All up to date ✓: check the relevant account, balance, or Activity view again. Contact support if it is still wrong.
- Some bank history is still unavailable: contact support if expected transaction history remains missing.
- Refresh failed. Try again later. Make one later attempt. If it fails again, contact support.
Do not delete data to troubleshoot syncing
Do not choose Delete saved bank history to recover missing or stale data. It permanently removes saved transactions and transaction-specific work and is not part of Fireball's normal refresh flow. It permanently removes saved transactions and transaction-specific work such as categories, splits, notes, tags, refund matches, and attachments.
Do not disconnect a bank solely to force a refresh. Disconnecting an Australian bank also deletes that bank's imported accounts, balances, transactions, and transaction-specific data. If Fireball does not show a specific reconnect or refresh action, contact support before removing the connection.
Contact support
If the checks above do not explain the problem:
1. Open Fireball's menu.
2. Choose Support.
3. Choose Contact support.
4. Say whether an account, balance, recent transaction, or older transaction history is affected.
5. Name the bank and account without including the full account number.
6. Include the Last updated time, when relevant, and the exact status or error message shown by Fireball.
The in-app email includes privacy-safe diagnostic information that can help the team inspect the latest failure. Do not include passwords, bank login details, full account numbers, or raw transaction details.
If the email option does not open, email support@heliosstudio.app.
