What is NZ Super?
NZ Super is the New Zealand government pension paid from age 65 to residents who meet the residency rules.
From 1 April 2026 it is about $28,868 a year after tax for a single person living alone and about $44,412 a year for a couple who both qualify. Rates change each April.
It is not means tested, so savings and investments do not reduce it.
