What is rebalancing?

Rebalancing is buying or selling investments to bring your portfolio back to its target asset allocation.

After a strong year for shares, your portfolio can drift to more risk than you planned. Rebalancing once a year, or when a holding drifts too far, keeps risk where you chose it. Directing new contributions to the underweight asset avoids selling.
